I think Hollywood and the media have painted The Big Lie from shore to sandy shore. America is not at all what the media portrays.

Quite the contrary I see most Americans as family-valuing, church-going folks who value the Bible. I think most parents want their kids to wait until marriage for sex, etc.

Am I naive?

You are not naive. If you look at the news you will see there is more attention to "what Rosey and Donald said" than the heart of our country, like the "NY Subway Superman". And for the folks that missed that story... case in point! God wants us to see his the goodness and love in everything. Even 9/11 sparked some of the most heroic and loving stories in a "cold and uncaring" city. Quite the contrary. Never stop believing!

Yes sorry i think you are. I'm sure there are plenty of people like you described. But you have to look at all the other things your country posses to get a true picture.
Overflowing prison populations.
Inner city gang violence.
Gun violence one of the highest in the world.
Millions of your citizens living below the poverty line.
No national heath system.
Teenage pregnancy. (not restricted to your country but a problem all the same)
To name just a few. I dont think Hollywood has much to do with it or the media its cold hard facts you have to face.
American values i dont doubt for many they are there but should they not be for all?

I'd say American values are freedom of speech, self determination; we are a bit materialistic; we tend to be a bit naive of our government.

Yes, most of us are "family-valuing", but, that might not mean the same thing to all of us.

Did you see the articles lately about there being more single women than married in this country?

Americans have many different values but I would say American values would be those values stated in the Declaration of Independence an the Constitution of the USA. BB

Americans are victims of advertising, but they are still to blame. I personally am an American that cares about world views and not just about having the right cell phone and buying my clothes at Hollister. It's almost as if many Americans are being taught to become souless robots. It's sad.
I think underneath they are mostly good people just like anywhere else, but need to wake up to the real world.

I see most Americans as Tv loving, hard working, exhuasted, faith needing, unorganized, people power that could rise up and right many of the injustices that take place here in Jesusland.

Wow, how old are you?

Anyway, that bubble you have will burst soon enough. The "American" you describe is the minority now.

You should get out more and interact with the public as much as possible.
