I don't eat restaurant food or anything else cooked with convential ovens and ranges, which waste tremendous amounts of energy.

Personally, I think my biggest contribution is to try to spread the word and influence people to recognize the problem as a serious problem and not just 'hoopla'. Only then can we influence our government(s) to take the problem seriously and implement measures accordingly. I truly believe this is the highest bang for the buck we can do as individuals. Recycling and shorter showers is nice, but I think the benefit is too limited IMHO. We need to educate the masses, thereby creating political pressures for green energy, cars, big business, etc to really have a big effect.

We only flush every 3rd use to save water. We recycle, use curb-side yard waste pick up, composte & when driving- we mentally map out route, so we don't drive back & forth to get jobs done. We also have garden- some fruit & veggies, don't cut down our trees unless diseased or dangerous, mulch, short showers, etc, etc.

I don't do a thing...it's all political hoopla. Until everyone can agree that what we have is truly a castastrophic situation, why bother?
