seeing as Christians think Adam and Eve populated the world, this would mean some incest went on back then. So do this mean you support incest? i feel it is sick.

What people conveniently seem to forget is that it doesn't matter whether Adam and Eve were the first people, or whether there were "other people on the earth" at the time.

The Bible explicitly states that during the Great Flood, EVERYONE on earth died except for Noah, his wife, their three sons, and their sons' wives. Eight people to repopulate the earth. Period.

Genesis 7

21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:

22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

So yes - the earth was populated by incest. But not from Adam and Eve. From Noah and his family.

Which makes the argument that "Adam and Eve did not have accumulated genetic mistakes. When the first two people were created, they were physically perfect. Everything God made was ‘very good’ (Genesis 1:31), so their genes were perfect—no mistakes!" (http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/tools/cains_wife.asp) irrelevant.

Actually a lot incest went on back then. It was the only practical way to populate the world. And it was okay up until the time of Moses. Why the change? Basic science. So the gene pool wouldn't get corrupted.

I actually had this discussion with a rather shallow set of weomen the other day. I was in government class trying to come up with a new government(part of the class). The girls somehow got into a discusion about the world only being 6,000 years old and how adam and eve were here first.
The conversation came about when I mentioned something about evolution.
"evolution?" they said, "is that like when Adam and Eve were made?"
"no it was when man branched off from a common ansestor to monkeys" I said.
"so you are saying we come from monkeys?"
"no monkeys came from the same ansestor as us we did not come from monkeys"I said
"but the bible says adam and eve were here first" they said.
"well not to disrupt your beliefs or anything but if that were true they would have been insest, have you ever seen an insest couples kids?"
"but were all are related" they said
"we are related in that we all came from the same common ansestor after that man evolved into different races to better suit their environment"
Confusedly they replied"the world was only 6,000 years old and man has always been here right?"
I stated "no scientific data backs that idea up not even a little and how carbon dating was pretty accurate to throw out this argument completly"

And yes this conversation really did happen and although it is not word for word what what happend the ideas above were shown fully in context of their views, Sorry that this answer was not completly on topic but i felt I should share the story since it had some nature to the question you asked in it.

At the beginning of Creation, there was no such thing as incest. Incest did not come into existence until after the 10 commandments were given the Israelites through Moses. God was the one who told them to multiply and populate the earth. I think you need you see your pastor and discuss your problem about this with him. I will be praying for you.

Genesis 4:17 says, "Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch." Who was his wife? It is implied in the biblical text that Cain married one of his sisters. Several facts lead us to this conclusion.
First, it is clear that Adam and Eve had a number of children. Genesis 5:4 says, "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters." Since Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and since God had commanded them (and their descendants) to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), it seems reasonable to conclude that Cain married one of his many sisters. It is also possible that he married a niece or even a grandniece.
One must keep in mind that in the early years of the human race there were no genetic defects that had yet developed as a result of the fall of man. By the time of Abraham, God had not yet declared this kind of marriage to be contrary to His will (see Genesis 20:12). Laws governing incest apparently did not become enacted until the time of Moses (Lev 18:7-17; 20:11,12,14,17,20,21). Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

I don't think all incest is sick. I mean, how do you [really know] that you aren't having relations with your 12th cousin twice removed? Actually I think that anything past the 7th generation is OK.

For example you could share a great great great great great great grand father. Fifth and sixth generations are iffy. I wouldn't knowingly enter a relationship with someone I am that close to but I wouldn't end one if I found out. Anything less than 5th is out of the question.

As far as Adam and Eve...read Genesis Ch 1 again and you will see that before God made Adam it says he made other people.

Yes.

Actually, if you read in-between the lines and understand it well, you will see that other humans just popped into the story out of nowhere.

These people were thrown into the story at the last minute to avoid the incest thing.

I think it was methaphor,
Moses wrote the early part of the bible and i think this is just how GOD explained things to him.

Also according to jewish tradition adam was married to lilith before he was married to eve,But the was a dispute.

Thats why in some old paintings the serpent in the garden looks like a woman, supposidly she had a hand in getting eve to eat the apple,

no one really knows who else was on there. we'll never really know, now will we? although some people say that Adam and Eve was a symbolic story and that it didnt really happen that way. The story was written by people, for people, in a way that they could understand back then. They had simple minds, they didnt know as much as we know today. Its kind of like, how can God possibly explain the universe to us ? We wouldn't understand it. It would blow our little minds. So his disciples tell us in the best ways they know how to. They were just human.

Only if it was true. But, incest still happens knowingly in certain areas. But Adam and Eve were just.. the beginning of a myth.
