I get bored easy, but I know that a good long cardio workout is important. If you have a gym membership do:
10 minutes on the elptical
10 minutes on the starstepper
10 minutes on the bike
10 minutes on the row machine
over time add 5 minues to each and thats an hour of cardio and its a LOT less boring.

I also start with a couple weight machines for arms, a couple for thighs, butt, and abs. You can only do weights every other day (except abs, you can do those everyday if you feel like it)

With an ipod its a nice routine that give you some personal time and isnt too boring or strenous.

I would start out going to the gym three days a week for a half hour and work on the riding bike, tredmill, or EFX machine. Do that for a week until you figure out where you are at, whether this is too easy or too hard. And it gives you a chance to sit back and observe the gym and people in the gym. Then I would move it to doing weights every other day and cardio the other days.

set up a circuit training program for yourself.
basically what you do is a set number of reps at each machiene and then switch to a different machiene. you can also add in the cardio equipment between machienes to get your heart rate up.
for ex. hit the treadmill for about 10-15 mins at a steady pace (not too fast but not too slow either), do 3 sets of 10 reps (low weight) on the shoulder press, then move to the stationary bike and ride for 5-10 mins really pushing yourself, then move to the leg press and do 3 sets of 10 reps, followed by the rowing machiene for 5-10 mins again pushing yourself all out and then finish it up with a nice easy pace on the treadmill for about 15-20 mins
that way you don't get bored, you get a good workout, and you're combining anaerobic and aerobic exercises which will give the maximum benefit

cardio one day, weights the next. Vary the machines and weights and always stretch and warm up and cool down. Have a couple of days off a week.

It depends what you are trying to do, if you are into getting mucscle then it would be weights, if its cardio, then I would have to say you cant beat the ole treadmill.
