I was worried about this too and did some research.
The problem with Greenies and the law suits is that, while they have lead to death in some dogs, they're the best selling treat in American. This makes it difficult to really understand whether or not they're dangerous or if the deathes were isolated incidents.
With so many treats sold, and a low number of negitive reports, it is safe to say the dog treats pose a low level risk.
The cats treats are different. They're not made out of the same ingredients that the dogs treats are and they're not as hard. They're made for easy consumption and not chewing. Because of this, they're intended to be gulped down, unlike the dog treats.
I could not find any cases of death in cats caused by eating Greenies.
And my cat loves them... one of the few treats he likes.

This question effects me very personally - I am a pet dental hygienist and I have a client who's cat came very close to death because of Greenies.
Greenies become lodged in the intestinal tract and many pets have died because of this. Dogs AND CATS!!! I was shocked when I first learned this 2 years ago, but supposedly, the company "Greenies" has taken all the lawsuits against them for all the deaths their product caused, to heart and has now improved their ingredients so it does not lodge in the intestines causing blockages. I still will not recommend Greenies though. I was the one who refered Greenies to this client, and it would have been on my head if that poor cat had died! No thanks!

Greenies is perfectly safe for kittens. It's one of cats favorites. How many you feed them depends on their size, but you can give them 2 or 3 a day. It won't hurt them.

Feline Greenies seem to be just fine for cats. I heard that Greenies for dogs have been bad.

They have cat greenies. I'd stick to apples and apples.
I received a couple of packages of cat greenies in a bag of dog greenies that I got for my pooch. I didn't have a cat at the time so I gave them to a lady at work who has cats. She said they seemed to really enjoy them.

No, greenies are for dogs only. If you want a toy for your cat, I would recommend the small toy mice, my cats always love them.
Good Luck,

When my cat eats them she throws up, but my kitten eats them and she is fine.
They make their breath smell good though!
