Floaters are actually common when you get older. Your eyes are filled with a gel like vitreous fluid. With age the vitreuos fluid can harden and form clumps causing the eye floaters. Its quite common and nothing to be alarmed about. Sometimes they go away on their own and in special cases can be removed. If the condition gets worse then go to your optometrist as it could indicate a more serious underlying cause.

My grandmother had a floater in her eye and some flashing lights that were caused by her retina trying to detach it's self. That was most cause of her glasses and diabetes. I guess what I'm trying to say is that he should probably go to an eye doctor to really see what is going on with his eyes.

Floaters are fairly common. Its just debris floating inside your eye, in front of the retina.
If his doc is not concerned, then he's probably fine. But if he hasn't seen a doc, he needs to ASAP because floaters can be precursors to eye disease.

I have never heard of any kind of food giving people floaters.

Sometimes I get bright lights in the middle of my eyes and it followed by floaters and if I close my eyes it lookes like a kalidiscope of color. The doctor told me that I was having phanton migranes and mine are triggered by poor diet and bright light. Might want to get it checked out.
