I prefer home remedies. if you know of anything, please help. I know that i need a root canal on the side that's it's itching on. does the itching mean nerve damage. i can't get the procedure done until my insurance becomes effective in a month and a half. And also the nerve is exposed and my mouth hurts really bad when air or food gets in it. HELP me to sustain for a while.

The Listerine suggestion might help, but you might want to ask your dentist - he shouldn't charge you if he's your regular dentist.
Are you SURE your insurance will cover that root canal? If you have already been told that you need one, by a dentist, the insurance just MIGHT not cover it because it is a pre-existing condition. I'd suggest you check into that because you might want to go ahead with the RC if it won't.
