As almost everyone has already stated, Rampage beat Liddell in 2003 in a Pride Tournament. However, this was due to the fact that Chuck A) Fought someone who could throw with him and B) Fought outside of his home organization. Chuck gassed in the first round (10min instead of 5) and couldn't get the power behind his punches. Rampage countered and knocked Chuck down. His corner threw in the towel because they knew Chuck would soon get a title shot in the UFC and didn't want him to get injured.

As for now, Rampage has been on the downslide, but has been beaten by some tough competition. Shogun Rua is truly the number 1 LHW in the world, so that doesn't really reflect poorly on Rampage. The two losses to Silva do look bad though. Silva and Chuck are very similar fighters, and Rampage was destroyed by Silva twice. I think Chuck is better than Silva, in that his strikes are cleaner and he flurries less. Not to mention that Silva has lost two matches recently (CroCop and Arona) and amost got KO'd by Dan Henderson. Chuck is undefeated since his loss and has fought some quality fighters.

Michael C and Jimmy N have no idea what they are talking about. Lidell hasn't beaten old men (other than Couture) and the Natural is one of the best ever. Also, Chuck didn't get his *** handed to him, he gassed, plain and simple.

When they meat again, I imagine Chuck will avenge his only outstanding loss. Rampage has a puncher's chance, but has been more on the level of Tito Ortiz in his recent fights and not of Championship caliber. His success recently has come against submission fighters, and quality strikers have knocked him out time and time again.

Can Rampage beat Chuck? Sure he can, whether he will is up for debate.

Their last fight was a long time ago since then Chuck has been on a hot streak while Rampage has regressed.

The best case scenario for us fans is to see Rampage dominate his next 2-3 fights before he gets to Liddell. As much as I would love to see Rampage win, if I had to put money on it Chuck is the pick.

Since their last fight in 2003 Chuck has been on a 7 KO winning streak, while Jackson has been brutally KO'd twice by Wanderlei Silva and once by Mauricio "Shogun" Rua had a few decision victories and Richardo Arona being his only notable KO victim which was actually the result of an unitentional illegal headbutt.

Chuck is on a roll, he's knocked out every single opponent all seven being top fighters, Rampage has been a shadow of the fighter that beat chuck since being so brutally floored by the axe murderer.

You guys posting below me obviously haven't been following each fighters career since their first fight in 2003, Chuck has not only gotten better but the whole world knows exactly what chuck is gonna do when he steps in the cage every opponent knows his gameplan and no one can escape it, While Rampage has struggled to dispose of mediocre japanese fighters and gotten destroyed by the #2 LHW Shogun and #3 Wandy, Rampage had a shot fighting Chuck as his 1st fight in the UFC but he turned it down and said he wanted 2-3 fights before he had to face Chuck, even Rampage knows that he is outmatched this time around.

Rampage is 28 Chuck is 37 case closed. Yeah they fought three years ago when Chuck was in his prime he hasn't improved any he's actually lost stamina and doesn't throw as hard. Chuck used to knock people out with a few punches. When he fought Tito again he got gassed after 5 min and had no power in his punches at all. Like someone else said before in this topic Rampage showed that Chuck really has limited skills in MMA. He counts on his haymaker and when he fights a fighter that throws with him he's mediocre at best. The person that said Wanderlei and Liddell have similair fighting styles is a complete idiot. Chuck throws haymakers with his right hand, while Silva throws punches like a maniac then knees stomps and viciously attcks his opponent. Chuck hopes he can hit someone and knowck them out with one punch. The truth is Chuck has been brought up in the little leagues of MMA and when he fights Rampage again he'll get demolished again. And for the person to say Couture was one of the best ever is an even bigger idiot. Couture is one of my favorite fighters because of his age and his courage but by no means would i rank him in even the top 20 heavy or light heavy weights of all times.

Rampage lost to Silva and Shogun? Is that supposed to make him less of a threat to Liddell? Losing to two of the toughest guys in MMA? Rampage whupped Liddell good and proper in their first fight. He exposed Chuck's limited stand up game and took him apart, knocking him down TWICE!!
The UFC is Chuck's house, so he will have the confidence of fighting on familiar territory. But I see the UFC rematch going the same way as the first fight, or it could go a decision. Rampage joining the UFC is the best thing that could have happened to their LHW division.

Joseph B you're a moron. Chuck Liddell has beaten old men and mediocre at best fighters. Rampage lost to Shogun and Wanderlei the top 2 fighters at 205. Rampage will demolish him.

has anyone seen the tape of jackson and liddell 1? Rampage dominated Chuck! He is a bigger stronger more athletic guy, Chuck would have to throw haymakers and hope one lands before rampage gets his a hold of him, cuz once he does, it a wrap

That would be a good fight since Jackson was one of the three fighters to ever beat Chuck.
