You probably mean the myth of Pandora's Box or Chest. The gods of Greece once wanted to destroy mankind. Prometheus (Forethought) was man's protector. He told his brother Epimetheus (Afterthinker) to beware of gifts from the gods. They made a beautiful woman and named her Pandora (All Gifts), since each major god gave her some attractive quality. Epimetheus was much less wise than Prometheus, so he accepted the pretty woman. Prometheus had collected all of the evils that plagued mankind and locked them in a box or a chest and told Epimetheus never to open it. Pandora could not resist temptation, so she opened the box and loosed all of the evils upon mankind. She closed the lid before Hope escaped, so that is all men have to sustain them against the many things that plague them.

Pandora's Box is a simple myth that explains how woman came to be, and how bad things came to earth as well. It also explores the dangers of curiosity and distrust.
