I have seen couple of videos where boxers get their arms or legs snapped. Yes of course, a powerful punch or kick can do this but I have seen where a couple of boxers gets their legs snapped because falling to the ground becuase out of balance. My questions is that how this can happen if they do exercises, have vitamins and have good meals?

If they are properly nourished it shouldn't but still can happen. There are weak spots in everyone's bones, when they get hit, they break. The problem is even many "healthy" people are not properly nourished. Especially in the western world we do not get enough calcium, vitamin D, vitamin A, iron or potassium in our diets. We get too much sodium, protein and fat. Also the calcium we do get in our diet often comes too late, your body learns how to build bones in childhood and then keeps up that building pattern until the end of puberty. So you really need a lot of calcium and vitamin D from the age of about 6 through 19, but most people don't bother looking at their health until their 30's, way too late to help build strong bones. Any improvement in diet will certainly help, but weak points have already developed in the skeletal structure and will take years to repair them.

Not only that, but when you build up muscle you build a lot of weight. This weight is disproportionate to your normal body structure and so your bones can not compensate for it. Your bones may be built for you to weigh 150 lbs but as you're gained muscle you now weigh up to 200 lbs. This added weight increases the damage risk to your bones.

To make this even worse most muscle building diets include added protein (even though we already eat too much). Protein contains chemicals that once released into the body can leach calcium from your body, where does the calcium come from? Your bones.

If you want more info on diet, nutrition and strength training check out your nutrition section at the local library or book store. Avoid the diet books and go for the real health and nutrition books instead, you'll get less fad and more fact.

My left femur snapped while jogging on the mat. I rolled my right ankle, and twisted to try and keep my balance. The torque snapped my left femur in two. Doctors said it was a freak accident, but not unheard of. Very rare in adults, I guess. But there as no medical reason it should have snapped; it just did.

My daughter got the whole thing on video, and no matter how many times I watch it, it still doesn't make sense.

It happens in a lot of sports... such as soccer, basketball, and football. A simple turn can lead to an ACL tear or the terrible three... awkward position can be heart breaking regardless of physical strength. Knees and be severely hurt.

Keep in mind things like steroids can cause the muscles to overpower the connective tissue and the disparity can and does cause issues.

it happens and it's not that hard,most times it's because a limb gets bent or twisted in a way it's not meant to be.
