When starting out playing poker I found the Two Plus Two forum very friendly with tons of info and advice. Lots of professional poker players and writers hang out on the forums too.

For books you could try Winning Low Limit Holdem by Lee Jones and Getting Started in Holdem by Ed Miller. Very good primers for learning how to play Holdem.

Of course the only tried and true way to get good at anything is practice, practice, practice and the same holds true with poker. Study the game, learn the basics, then play to your hearts content.

Barely go All-In. Think of none face cards as less than decent. If someone bets big and if you don't have a face card, you shouldn't bet. And bluffing isn't always the best answer either. Bluffing is betting big when you dont have a good hand. If you have limited chips, then only bet if you have good or decent cards. Don't bet on nothing.
