Differences: Taoism is primarily concerned with man's relationship with nature, whereas Confucianism is primarily concerned with man's relationship with his fellow man.

Taoism is polytheistic. Confucianism is monotheistic(although unlike most other monotheistic religions, the Commandment forbidding the worship of other deities probably does not exist in Confucianism, which is why it can be practiced alongside polytheistic religions such as Taoism, Buddhism, Shinto, etc.,)

The Ultimate Reality in Taoism is the 'Tao'(AKA the 'Way'); the Ultimate Reality in Confucianism is 'Ti'en'(AKA Heaven or 'God').

Taoism has priests. Confucianism has sages.

Similarities: Both religions were founded in China & both had a major impact on religion in Asia in general.

Both Taoism & Confucianism were about reforming the already established religion in China(Confucius was a disciple of Lao Tzu, the founder of Taoism, in fact).

Both Taoism & Confucianism have ancestor worship. Both religions venerate the I Ching.

Both religions are considered complementary to one another(as well as other religions).

Both religions may still be practiced by those that are atheist or agnostic.

Confucianism is more a school of thought, Daoism is concerned with the ebb and flow of natural forces, and seeks a balance between these forces. That's at least how I understood it. For more info, I'd go to these sites:

Hope this helps!
