It is current 35 degrees. I live just a few miles from Malibu. Right now i would dress ready for snow. But if you are coming later in the year, wear clothing for the summer.

and just to agree with everybody, it's been really unusually cold lately. normally I'd suggest jeans, a light jacket and some flip flops and you'd fit right in.. but of course at the first sign of cold we californians (myself included) take it as our cue to break out the parkas and scarves! =)
