Many cats live happily in those circumstances though it might be better to have a pair so they have company if you have to be away.
You also have the option of halter and leash training a cat so it can be outside with you to have some fresh air and "adventure".

Cats that live indoors are proven to live longer lives as there are not the dangers that would otherwise be present if they lived or went outside. Besides a human snatching your cat up (stealing), there are other cats that are looking for a fight that spread disease, cars that hit cats, and things like fleas and ticks that the cat could bring inside the house to you. The cutest thing would be the dead mice that they love to bring to you as proof of their hunting abilities. So, no, I don't think there's any reason why someone SHOULD consider a cat a pet and then let it go outside - unless you don't care about the cat, that is. What really ticks me off is that we have below freezing temps. here lately and 2 different neighbors have "pet" cats and both have left them out in this weather! I think I will call the humane society to take these cats away, so someone who will keep them inside will adopt them!

i'm finding at figuring out to purchase a cat and am interior the comparable difficulty, as I stay in a wide-unfold floor flat without outdoors get right of entry to. As I survive a hectic highway and close to a prepare line i exchange into in contact that assorted those components meant i would not be waiting to have a cat. besides the undeniable fact that, after reading some articles i think of that it is going to likely be cool as long as I even have an older cat it is used to being a house-cat or a kitten and positioned across it up indoors purely. I advise which you would be waiting to do the comparable!

I have 8 cats, 1 that stays in her own little cattery built on to the garage, with heat and air and a climbing tower, 3 that go out during the day some but come back in the house to sleep, and 4 that never go out unless I walk them one at a time on a leash, which is only when its warm. My inside cats are totally fine being inside all the time. You will be fine. Just make sure you spay or neuter then asap...THAT is very important to keeping them in.

As long as it's okay with your landlord, and you provide the animal with toys, a clean litter box EVERY day, and feed the animal some sort of "Indoor Formula", you should be fine. Cats live way longer if they live inside. You need to spend more attention to the animal if it's an indoor cat. Also, putting the cat on a leash and letting him outside once in a while will do him good.

Cats who live indoors live an average life of 16 - 18 years. Cats who are outdoor cats live an average life of 5 years so the answer to your question is absolutely it can live happily with you without access to the outside world.
Here is a website which gives ideas on how to keep your cat occupied and happy while keeping it safe inside.
Good luck.

Yes, it is perfectly fine. I have had many cats who I have made strictly indoor cats. I have chosen to do this just for peace of mind. I don't want to worry about what could happen to them outside the house. I guess you could say I am a very protective cat mom but I have had much fewer problems this way.

It's going to depend on the cat's disposition.
If you get an older cat that has been used to being indoors then you can feel confident about it.
I wouldn't suggest kittens or young cats unless you can halter train them to go outside, because they will eventually get so bored they will do things to your flat you won't like or understand.
You may think what's wrong with my cat she does this or that, well it's because she or he is chronically bored in a flat.
It's not the cat's fault that these things happen. Cat's in nature need outside air as they are nature creatures.
Good question you asked.

Of course! Cats are perfectly fine as indoor pets and live at least 5 to as many as 10 years longer by staying indoors away from traffic, other animals and diseases. I've heard of cats living to be 25 by being indoors.

I have 2 indoor cats. They keep each other happy.I have had cats for the last 30 years and all of my cats are indoor cats. It takes a little work (unlike dogs) since they don't go outside you ave a litter box to keep clean. I change my litter box 2xweek. My cats like to eat plants so I have a small planter with grassgrowing in it and this helps keep them happy.
plus since they don't go out, I am the center of their world, good for me since I love to cuddle up with them.
