Dry socket is when the blood and tissue forms a clot in the space where the tooth was pulled and then falls out, it is very painful and you usually have bleeding. The major cause of dry socket is smoking, drinking from a straw, or not keeping the gauze in your mouth. Rinse with the warm salt water solution, keep the gauze in and take your antibiotics. You should not chew ice, smoke at all, or use straws; all of these delay your healing.

It means getting air inside the socket where your tooth previously was. The symptoms are PAIN! Just be careful when you eat, don't use straws, or is it do use straws?

It means if you suck on the tooth you will have many days of the worst pain ever. I have had 3 of them in my long lifetime and have finally learned, don't suck on that tooth!

It = when the blood clot in your empty socket becomes dislodged. the symptoms r about 20x the pain when healing.

To my knowledge this is when the area where the tooth was is exposed to air, not covered back up by skin. In particular you have a certain nerve that is being exposed. That's my understanding any way.

i had dry sockets 2x when i had my wisdom teeth removed.. i was in EXCRUCIATING pain and my ears were ringing... i ended up having my wounds sliced back open after a month bcuz of infection . HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience.. if you have them you WILL know. make sure you clean out your mouth with warm salt water and NO SMOKING.... i
