at that age there is no reason the children shouldn't have jobs to at least help out with the bills about the house and pay for thier own expenses.
If they aren't doing that then they are just taking advantage of the parents and yes biting into their retirement funds.

I don't know if their retirement is being effected or not...if these adult children are paying rent and a percentage of the house hold bills I would have to say no. My daughter is 21 and still lives at home, she pays half the rent, pluse half of the household bills...She's been paying rent since she was 18, that's as it should be...at least in my home.

Are the kids working? Filing their own income tax. Paying or helping with utilities and keeping records? It could go a long way in showing their Independence and not taking away from what their parents have worked so hard for.

Depends on whether the kids pay rent or perform work that the parents would have to hire someone else to do.

Are the ADULT children working at all? Maybe they contribute also. I know when you are retired, you get half of what you've made in a paycheck. n

I would say so.

Its possible, though, that everyone pools resources, and the parents (as well as the kids) could be saving money all around.

Who knows?

I would say those kids are selfish. For God`s sake don`t their parents deserve a break.
