I bought a used car in June 2006 and the insurance expired at the end of December. I didnt know it b/c i didnt get any notification about it. I didnt use the car ever since b/c i went on vacation for winter break. When I came back 3 days i found the car was flooded and I towed it to a mechanic and sold it to him for $200. I returned the plate to DMV today but i forgot to ask about the insurance. I mean, will it affect me the next time i buy a car or will my license got suspended because of the lapse? What should I do?

Thanks a lot!

Go to your insurance company and tell them what you wrote here.

It might affect the price you pay from now on, but ask first.
Sometimes just because you have one lapse, doesn't mean the car ins., won't sell to you again. If you have no car and didn't get a ticket for the car you weren't driving, then you can't get a suspended license for something you didn't do.
Maybe change auto ins. If you go on your parents policy (and never have been on, they won't ask about other things...) or just plain change companies...it's not like they speak to each other.
(trust me on that one....)

In florida your license will be suspended for lack of insurance if you have a registered car. Also you will pay HIGH insurance rates when you try to get insurance on a new car.
Hope all works out for you,.

As long as you weren't caught driving it while the insurance was lapsed you're OK.
