We have puppy that someone gave us back in October. We don't know much about her because she was dropped on the people who were giving her away. I took her to our vetenarian shortly after for a checkup and according to how old he estimated then, she is about 6 months old now. So far she is only about 17lbs. About how much more do they usually grow after 6 months?

It depends on the types of dogs that she is mixed with. Your veterinarian should be able to tell you what she is most likely mixed with, then you should be able to determine her full size.

They continue to grow for at least a full year for size. Did the vet give you any idea as to what kind of breed she may be?? That would be the key to your question, because if she is half cocker spaniel and half Labrador then the size she gets will be in between those two breeds, or it could lean towards one more than the other! So if you can find out what she is- then you can Guess-tamate how big she will be!

depends on the breed and the mix. Chances are she will still grow slowly for anywhere up to a year. If she is a mix and you can find out what her main breeds are, you can look up the standards to see what the average weight and size is. Until she is fully grown, that is your best bet.

I was told that the smaller breeds tend to grow faster as to the larger breeds. That by 6 months the smaller breed dogs are mostly fully grown and grow into themselves. As for the larger breeds it can take up to a year. Even then all dogs can grow up to a year. They're not consider an adult until a year.

So it really depends on the size of the dog.

Probably not much more, but dogs usually reach maturity anywhere from 8 months to 14 months depending on breed size, the smaller the shorter maturity span, chances are you will have a dog under 30 pounds when she is done growing..

It all depends on what breeds she is mixed with. Sounds like she will be a medium size, maybe about 25 lb.

my vet told me the formula = weight at 4 months x 2.5 (generally full grown weight). However, I do not agree with him.
