Federal law allows for 50 gallons a year of home made fermeted beverage...beer or wine. Home distilation is illiegal, as is freezing fermented drinks, but it is a good way to get straight booze....also...I once ran some home made red wine through a backpackers water filter, just to see what would happen...that dark red wine came out crystal clear, and about as strong as vodka!

Lord I tried making beer one time but we got all the mixtures wrong and that drum blew up when we put outside. It smelled like a rendering plant everywhere and my neighbor got really mad cause the lid flew through his screen porch and that nasty beer stuff covered his trailer and car. I had to move soon after that.

Assuming you're in the US, you're allowed to make up to 100 gallons per adult (one of legal drinking age - 21) in the household. That's 100 gallons of beer and 100 gallons of wine.

Distillation of any kind is strictly forbidden without a federal permit.

Beer and wine are o.k. Harder liquors requires stills and in some places you need a permit or it is banned all together.

just call yourself an old school moonshiner and get yourself a still and a dream. If they don't catch you, you can distill anything.

beer and wine, not liquors - distilling requires a license in most states- fermentation does not but there's a limit on how much you can make.
