A person cannot "sell their soul" because they don't own it in the first place. God owns everything because He made everything and rules over all of his creation. People who think that the Devil has some sort of Kingdom in Hell and that they can make a deal with him by selling him their soul have bought into homespun philosophy and old wives tales.

On the other hand, if a person rejects Jesus Christ their whole life then they will be joining the Devil in the Lake of Fire when it comes time for the judgment, not that he is going to be any better off than them or anything.

Revelation 20:10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. (11) Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. (12) And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. (13) And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. (14) Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. (15) And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

I think that if you consciously and deliberately sell your soul, you would feel a sense of emptiness.

It's a form of self-betrayal.

Many have "sold their souls" for money, security, status, personal safety, and so forth. I imagine at the moment they give in, they feel themselves plummet inside, and then they feel terribly empty. And I'm sure that in many cases, it hurts.

If you want to see an example of someone who's on the brink of selling his soul, take a look at Walter Lee Younger in A Raisin in the Sun in the final scene.

The novel The Chocolate War also comes to mind.

The classic story of soul-selling, of course, is the legend of Faust, or Faustus.

you're born with your soul destined for hell so it's always been lost. Jesus Christ bought it back, though. Through Jesus Christ you can have eternal life. As far as people selling their souls to the devil in exchange for something, I believe that the devil may string them along. Yet, Satan has no authority. Satan is the father of lies and deceit. I read the testimony of a Satanic worshipper who willingly did all kinds of heinous acts in exchange for dark powers. When she tried to leave the lifestyle, her own mind reminded her of all that she had done so that it was difficult for her to turn to God from the shame. Yet, the Bible says:
Isaiah 1:18
18Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Psalm 103:12
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Don't sell your soul though. You may open the door to the dark forces who only lust for your utter demise.

You can't really "sell" your soul. You can sell your body and your mind, but not your soul. It's a collection of life energy that cannot be moved by human means. Therefore, you cannot sell it since you cannot separate it from your body.

Selling your soul is a mental state of mind.

What subject matter is selling your soul?

Feeling anything would all depend on what state of mind your conscience has.

well if you sell your soul to satan yes it will hurt you here on earth and in hell if you sell your soul to God and say yes to his word it will hurt as well meaning when you give your life to Christ and you say you are livivng for him and you know him and you go out and steal it hurts Christ and your committment to him but the end results of selling your soul to Christ will not hurt if you live right

wow, pain indeed. Jesus asked a great question........

"what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?"

the answer; nothing, nothing but pain for all eternity in hell.

Let Jesus buy your soul, he already paid the price when He died on the cross. He will set you free and eternity will be joy and peace.
