This is answered by St. Paul in his letter to the Philippians 1:23-24.
"I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body."
God may still have work for the person in this life.
In any case, our time on earth is short compared with eternity.

first, getting to heaven is not the goal. eternal communion with God is the Goal.
whether a Believer is on earth or in heaven we have communion with God.
whether an UN-Believer comes to faith (turns around) or not after a near death al depends on that person.
Most people seek God at a crisis time but forget about God when they are delivered from there perils.

Praying and having faith is no guarantee God will come to your rescue. The bible says God shows mercy on those he chooses to show mercy on. That includes nonbelievers.
And nonbelievers cannot be saved so they can believe. It works the other way around. God says you first must believe in Him with your heart and the gift of salvation from Jesus. Then you're saved.

Life here on this earth is precious and the time that Christians have here is as dear to them as life is to those who only see what the world has to offer.
God knows the moment anyone believes in him, and he knows the heart of those who will not come to him no matter how much time and with what sweet voice he calls them.

Faith is choice to believe and live with God. Those with faith are choosing to be with God in Heaven. Those without faith are choosing not to for their own reasons.
God gives us choice. And he gives us our entire lives to make a choice. If we live our lives choosing not to go to heaven, then we won't because we chose not to.
The Bible says that even at Judgment Day, those who did not make that choice will blaspheme and curse God even in God's presence because they have set their ways and made their choice.
Until that day arrives, though, as Christians we have obligations to live our lives as best we can to attract unbelievers to believe in the signs and miracles they witness as God works through us. In this way, God gives everybody every chance in the world to go to heaven and be with Him.

Because Christians have a calling on Earth. Nobody wants to be in pain & suffering. If you ask any chrisitan if they would rather be in heaven now or Earth, they would obviously want heaven. But if you said you must die a painful death first, Christians would say they would rather wait.

i don't think God saved them from illness or disaster...i think they lucked out and won't admit it.
faith doesn't work the way most christians would have us believe, because they don't have that kind of faith, either...it is just different.
and believing God? the devils believe, child.

Its the great commission baby. Jesus instructed us believers to go out and save lost souls. If we were all gone, those of you who don't believe would be in serious trouble.

If all the believers went toheaven...who would be left to preach the good news to the unbelievers? Think about it.
