I did a Master's and then a Ph. D. in English literature and will give you my thoughts: I taught English for many years.
A Master's in English, especially if combined with a teaching diploma, can lead into high-school teaching positions, but college teaching will require a doctorate, which often takes quite a few years to get.
Training with a bank. I have known bank officers with a degree in English.
Exploring opporunities in writing, with the Government or the private sector. Quite a lot of companies need people to write their brochures and reports. But this career may need a year's training after the M.A.
Mass Communications is a much more practical major, with openings in radio, television, newspapers, depending on what areas and courses she emphasizes in her Master's.
If she is worried about jobs, I would choose Mass Communications, but if she is prepared to look out for opportunities and build on them as they arise, English might be a more satisfying choice.

I don't know if you mean this as a joke. There's fundamentalism, the theory of evolution, and a mix of both. These are three theories people have before them, in a simplified manner. Fundamentalists believe that the Bible happened as it happened because the Bible is the word of God. Therefore: -The world was created in seven days. -God created man. From man, God created woman. -Out of nothing came something by way of supernatural, not cosmic, force. -Everything was as it is now, meaning a duck has always been a duck, a human has always been a human, a ape has always been an ape. DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH CHANGING ACCORDING TO ENVIRONMENT. To adapt is not to change shape from one to another, like a monkey to human, it is simply to change to accommodate the environment. For example, if the same species of bird live in two different places, and in one area the bird needs to crack open nuts to eat, and in the other the bird just eats the seeds open on the ground, one will have a more defined beak than the other. But I think that accommodation is something that someone who believes in a mix of the Bible and science would believe. Evolutionists believe a variety of different things... there is a theory of evolution that is based on the similarities between certain animals and what not... I don't really know evolution, to be truthful. I learned it a long time ago and I can't really remember.

Rather late to be concerned about this don't you think?? I mean usually one takes courses designed to help further their desired career choice. I would never look to yahoo answers to help me pick out my career choice either!
