Baby girl, they are stuck in tradition. If that is truly what your heart desires then you will not regret it. You will regret it if you are a complete people pleaser because they are going to try to make you feel bad for your decision on what YOU chose. This is about you. This is about what YOU want, not that they want. They had their chance or will have their chance and when that comes then that's when they will be in white. Girl, it's your special day. You do YOU.

I always wanted to wear a red dress too! However, my dress is white trimmed in red (apple actually, from David's Bridal) and it is beautiful. Try on some red dresses and see how you feel. If you are paying for it, get it. Enjoy being different. My wedding is very low budget, but unique. I am not doing anything typical, and I think people will remember it better then the stuffy ones that are all the same. Before white came to be tradition, brides wore their 'best dress,' whatever color.

White dress was because queen victoria (?) or some queen decided to wear a white wedding dress on her wedding day. Before her EVERYONE wore a colored dress. Now they make dresses in all different colors, especially red. You should wear red and have the bridesmaid's wear white or ask the bridal shop what color goes well with red. Do what you want! Guys know nothing!

What about white with red accents. I know that David's Bridal carries them, and so does Alfred Angelo. I'm sure you can find them elsewhere. (This option would be best for keeping peace, but I prefer the 2nd option.)
Is your fiance's side footing the bill for your wedding? If not, stick to your guns. I was in the same boat you are. (Well before I broke up with my fiance, anyways... And no, I didn't break up with him b/c he and his family thought I should have a white dress...) I have always wanted a red wedding dress, and nowadays it's not that hard to get your hands on one. I say go for it. There are some downright BEAUTIFUL red wedding gowns out there...

a red wedding dress is just fine. Chinese women always wear red when getting married in china. A lot of people think white isn't a good color for when you get married. It's your special day and as long as you don't clash with the flowers then you should wear whatever you want ^_^

years ago every one wore their best dress / suit. My mother told me when Queen Elizabeth wore a white gown it was the start of the tradition. In the 50's a hint of color was in style. I remember an ice blue gown. Its your wedding and I feel that the bride should have what she wants, but there are other people to think about. Your Mom and Dad, New in-laws, and the Groom. Do you come from the east??..Where you can bow to your family try to. If its your hearts desire to do something else then go ahead. Your mom and dad love you and want the day to be perfect for you. They have been dreaming of this day for years. This is not a time to show off or have a hissy fit. Last but not least remember to ask your mom to help you dress. Listen to her words of wisdom. Best wishes for you .

If you are willing to compromise, then why not wear a red and white dress. The rules are not so strict about what color you wear these days. Or if you can afford it, get married in a white dress and wear a red dress to the reception, or vice versa. That way you will have pictures in both color dresses. Try and picture yourself in both colors or a combination of both. Just wondering, what color will the bridesmaids wear?

I liek your idea actually. It's very modern where as wearing white is very traditional and over done. Of course you should go with whatever color you want, it is your wedding day not your inlaws and I can probably garantee that if you dont regrett that red dress now you wont regret it later. I've coem to find that even women who had horrendous lookign dresses on tehir wedding day still think they looked gorgeous and love lookign at they're albums.

I think that conventional weddings are somewhat boring and largely done because brides want to please their families. This is your day and you need to do what will make you feel happy. Chances are if you've had this dream of having a red dress this long you won't look back on it with regrets.
Sometimes it's better to be unique and go against the grain. It makes life more interesting...

It's your day and you should wear whatever you want. If your not sure about the whole dress being red, why don't you get a white one with red accents? There are some really pretty ones out there.
