I did hear about that story, actually. But I'm not surprised. When you consider your island country once dominated the globe you also have to stand in awe of it's military capability. The British forces have always demonstrated remarkable tenacity and bravery. Probably many Brits don't like Americans or think we're arrogant or stupid or whatever. But we don't hate you. We admire and respect the British. If for no other reason they taught us how to fight.

Without the shadow of a doubt, an act of great courage and selflessness. Soldiers do not leave their own behind, alive or dead. That is the essence of being in the military in any way shape or form: soon, the team takes priority over the self and nothing becomes morevaluable than the lives of your mates.
To do what they did was next best thing to attempting suicide, but still they did it for one of their own, kudos on that. I honestly doubt that I've got the stuff to do the same thing myself.
But then again, everyone knows that British forces are completely nuts, and Royal Marines even more so. But in the best possible way. Damned glad to have them behind me instead of in front of me.

I had not heard about this incident, but it is an inspiring example of the bravery of our allies.
The British have a long and proud history of military achievement, which continues to this day.

Well I'm sorry ret_roch_cop for being a proud French Cheese eater and proud that our country doesn't take part in useless fights like the English or the US are doing now. Proud also that we aren't Bush little dog following him where-ever he goes.
As for the question. This kind of act proves that soldiers can risk their lives for others and it is something one can be proud of.

We all know that the British Military are brave and stouthearted allies and comrades-in-arms. It's them cheese-eaters on the other side of the Channel we don't have much use for.

I would say that the Taliban are also very brave warriors, considering their inferior weapons and equipments and the enormous losses on their ranks during combat. But despite the odds, they still continue to hold on and fight to the death. I doubt whether western nations can match this bravery and losses when faced with such realities.
