It is actually very common. Worms can be contracted from poorly cooked meat, unwashed lettuce is a large culprit. A distended belly and or constipation followed by diareah in a pattern can indicate intestinal or round worms. Also an itchy anus at night while sleeping almost always points to parasites. There are many over the counter remedies at the local drug store.

There is such a thing as intestinal worms.
Eventually you would start to lose weight as the worm would take all the nutients from the food that you consume.
I would take action quickly and see your doc if you think you might have them as the longer they are left the bigger they get and they lay eggs too!

Intestinal worms are parasites, which thrives in the intestines of another organism. Parasites enter your body in one of four ways through food and water, through transmitting agent, such as a mosquito and sexual contact and also through nose and skin. Even though there are thousands of parasites which infects humans, only four are very important. They are:
Roundworms(spreads through food and water)
Pinworms(spreads from person to person)
Whipworms(spreads through food and water)
Tapeworms(spreads by eating raw or undercooked meats)

Yes there is such a thing. Usually you would have severe diarrhea, sometimes with blood, and abdominal cramping. Some worms don't cause real severe symptoms, but you might actually poop some out in the toilet (in which case you would see them). I know that is gross, but it happens.

You would be thin, no appetite and frequently ill. See a doctor and he'll be able to do a few tests to confirm a worm problem.
Worm problems are treatable but most people are unaware or simply disgusted that they may be hosts to parasites.
These days worm treatments are highly effective, quick and discreet.
Go see a doctor first. Don't treat yourself.

Yes there are such things, and I once had a roommate who had one. He'd get a red rash around his neck and chest, and no matter how often he ate, he was always still so hungry.

Intestinal parasites are parasites that populate the gastro-intestinal tract. In humans, they are often spread by poor hygiene related to feces, contact with animals, or poorly cooked food containing parasites.
The major groups of parasites include protozoans (organisms having only one cell) and parasitic worms (helminths). Of these, protozoans, including cryptosporidium, microsporidia, and isospora, are most common in HIV-infected persons. Each of these parasites can infect the digestive tract, and sometimes two or more can cause infection at the same time.

Yes, tapeworms.
You'd be in excruciating pain.
This can come from not going to the washroom regularily or eating contaminated food.
