any bloodwork ran? if your dog is having bowel movements it's eating something. yes dog's can get the "flu" but not neccessarily how us humans get it. if your dog doesn't eat in a few days, take the dog back to the vet. bloodwork might be in order. make sure the dog is staying hydrated. if you're having trouble getting the dog to drink you can try some unflavored pedialyte mixed with a low sodium chicken broth. if the dog is not drinking though you should immediatly get the dog to the vet. dogs this size can become dehydrated quickly and often do not show signs of it until they are almost 60-70% dehydrated. if you're concerned in any way call your vet.

Yes the dog can get the flu to answer your question; however if your dog is healthy and everything came back normal from the vet then you might want to try other food options.

Signs of Canine Influenza:

"In the milder disease, the most common clinical sign is a cough that persists for 10 to 30 days despite therapy with antibiotics and cough suppressants. Most dogs have a soft, moist cough, while others have a dry cough similar to that induced by Bordatella bronchiseptica/parainfluenza virus infection. Many dogs have purulent nasal discharge and a low-grade fever. The nasal discharge likely represents a secondary bacterial infection that quickly resolves with treatment with a broad-spectrum, bactericidal antibiotic.

Some dogs develop a more severe disease with clinical signs of pneumonia, such as a high fever (1 040F to 1 060F) and increased respiratory rate and effort. Thoracic radiographs may show consolidation of lung lobes. Dogs with pneumonia often have a secondary bacterial infection and have responded best to a combination of broad-spectrum, bactericidal antibiotics and maintenance of hydration with intravenous fluid therapy."

Your dog does not sound like you have Canine Influenza. It might be the food itself. If the not eating part is the only thing wrong (if your vet deemed your dog to be healthy) then you should try different food (perhaps boiled hamburger meat with rice) or something like that for example.

If you are still worried you can take your dog back to the vet to check to see if your dog has worms. Good Luck.

You can feed them boiled hamburger and rice, or scrambled eggs. Our vet reccomended that to us . Try giving the dog pedialite, it really helps keep them hydrated. i know this sounds goofy but it does help out alot. Im not sure if dogs can get the flu though...but hope everything works out and is ok..good luck
