My son saw one of these dogs and absolutely loves them! I really would like to get one for him for his birthday in April..Any suggestions on where to find one online or in or around Louisiana?

first you need to research the breed itself and find out if the breed's characteristics fit in with your lifestyle. can you afford proper vet care, spay or neuter, premuim food, toys, crate, collar, leash, etc....also plan on monthly grooming, socialization, training class and proper exercise. if you are able to provide all of these things then contact the local breed club in your area. research the breeders. make sure you can visit where the pups were raised and see at least one parent. make sure the breeder screens for health problems related to the breed and mom has had proper vet care and proper medical testing for herself. hopefully you will find a breeder in your price range. do not buy from a petstore, you are asking for a lifetime of heartache. if you go for the cheapest pup you can find you may be paying the difference in medical bills and sorrow later on down the road. good luck to you.

I would start with the Havanese Club of America and get their breeder referral list. The website is: http://www.havanese.org/
This is not a popular breed, so they are not all that easy to find. Please be sure to take your time and find a reputable breeder. Also understand that you may have to wait longer if getting a puppy from a reputable breeder as they are not breeding because of demand, but for the betterment of the breed.

statistically 10 to 12% of dogs in kennels are purebreds I don't know if they have Javanese puppies but its worth a shot. Also, try to look them up on the Internet

I do know not if you tried this but you can go through the AKC website (http://www.akc.org) and go through breeder classfied section to find a breeder.
