I have gallstones and was having frequent attacks so I went on a strict no fat diet hoping my gallbladder inflamation would go down and it has worked for the past 2 weeks. I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience and when they stared to eat fat again

Steffi,
I'm so sorry you have suffered with gallstones. I don't know of anything that dissolves the stones. If they are very small, you may pass them without even knowing it, but if they are large they will stay in your gallbladder. Every time your body senses fats, it will try to secrete bile to digest those fats. When the bile is secreted, the contraction will possibly squeeze the stone, causing pain.

Some are never able to eat fats without pain . . . others can get by in moderation. I guess the only way you know is if you try it when you have time to be in pain?!?!? Sounds weird, but just don't try anything on a busy day, Okay?

I had mine out and don't miss it at all. . . but mine was not controlled by diet. Talk to your doctor. He knows your specific case.

Good luck!

I can't imagine why a doctor has not told you the gall stones have to go. Have you been to a doctor, I am assuming you have or how would a person know they have gallstones.
I had mine taken out two years ago and its a real simple process. I went in at 10:00AM and was out and home at 6:00PM.
Years ago you were in the hospital for two weeks after gall bladder surgery. Now, they make 3 little cuts, you can hardly see, go in with a small scope and like magic their gone. Had no bad effects afterword and can eat anything I want.

It isn't only the low fat diet....the stone that was blocking your common bile duct probably has receded...and tha twas casuing the pain. If you have been diagnosed with GD disease, a low fat diet is the best course to take. However, if you suddenly experience excruciating pain in your right side, sotmach area and it transfers to your back, do not hesitate to get medical attention right away...and by this I mean the ER.

I don't know whose advice you are following, but if you have stones, you will have to have your gallbladder removed. It will start to hurt again, I can assure you. I had mine out 6 years ago. The surgery is easy.
