questions that redicule christianity and when honest sincere attempts to answer are made, they pick as best the one that agrees with their redicule? Why don't they ask sincere questions ?

I know christians can give inane answers. But I haven't seen any sincere debate from atheists in their questions. Christians do ask legitimate questions about their faith.

To smarty pants: I'll think about that.

well you shouldn't generalize the whole group based on the action of a few anyway i've seen this done on both sides and i've seen this done between religious people amongst themselves anyway in some cases some people want to be biased and insulting but in most cases everybody is trying to open people's minds up to different possibilities and may phrase their words in an incorrect way or some people are sensitive and read into or interpret things differently anyway i'm agnostic and that's what i have seen since being on this forum

They want answers just like anyone asking a question. Very few atheists claim to know with certainty that there are no gods. All atheists don't believe in any gods. It's the only thing that all atheists agree on. Some, strong atheists, claim no gods exist. Me. I don't know but I don't believe.

True. I've always had the same problem. Many atheists on this forum ignore a logical answer if it's from a Christian and only choose answers that support their idiotic questions.

Case in point: A question I answered about how the Bible portrays Lot:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aq8Y2UAIRIPnsyhtd5F72unsy6IX?qid=20070116140935AA7hkVQ&show=7#profile-info-e0f7b244828e300b29fe9009c9a60b62aa

I gave a thorough answer with Biblical evidence, and that atheist picked a person who copied and pasted an answer from Wikipedia!
It's not all atheists, and some professed Christians on this forum also do this, but I notice that a LOT of atheists simply post questions bashing Christianity without a valid claim.

I believe that most Atheists are truly concerned for the earth and everything on it. I am worried about members of our society that believe in deities because they shut out factual information that can help the world. We need all the intelligence we can get. There are very intelligent minds that have been hijacked by religion that will never get to contribute the knowledge we could use from them. It is such a waste. I used to be religious and I recognize lack of thought. I used to act like a parrot too. I could recite scripture and argue for god, but I was not thinking, I was spewing out things I had been trained to say.

I am agnostic. I don't know the ultimate answer. Most people that post redicule questions are not looking for answer, but looking for someone to say "I second that idea". I have seen it done on both sides of the fence. Let me ask you something would you honestly if given scientific proof jump to the other side? It's hard for me to believe that either side is actually willing to listen and take in what the other side is saying.

The scripture tells us that we will be ridiculed and reviled for the sake of Christ. This should not be a surprise to anyone when this happens. Although, I will admit, it is disheartening. For me what hurts more is when I read answers from fellow Christians that show very little love or grace, but drip of animosity and impatients. We are to present the gospel in love and be ready to have an answer for the hope that we have in our hearts. Railing against others that they are idiots, going to hell and we are happy about it, is not what we have been called to do. Name sin for what it is, but understand that Christ died for the sinner that you are speaking to just as much as He did for you. Speak the truth in love and pray that the Holy Spirit will make your words take root and generate repentance in the persons heart.

Ha! You think Christians have been asking sincere questions about their faith? What about the Christians posting questions such as "All atheists are going to hell." etc...

Atheists do it because Christians do. Christians do it to bug atheists. It's a workable cycle. Let it go.

You are generalizing. Certainly not every atheist ridicules any more than every Christian does. There are many sincere answers and questions from every category of people. Maybe you focus more on those that say what you expect to see/hear?

People on here are going to state their opinions, weither you agree with them or not. That is the whole intention of this cite.

Who are you to judge?

You shouldn't generalize like that. Not ALL atheists are that way...just like not ALL christians are crazy a s s fundies.
