Possibly too much water. But, if you are using wholewheat or wholemeal flours then they tend to be a bit heavier loaves - so they just will sink, you can't do much about it.

It could be to do with the current air humidity where you live. We had two breadmakers (they broke down after a couple of years each) anyway, we sometimes found that in damp, humid conditions the top of the loaf would sink slightly. How big is your breadmaker? I think you can get smalll and medium sized ones. If it's small, you might be putting too many ingredients (volume wise) into the maker so that when it rises, it bumps it's head(of the bread) on the ceiling of the maker so, deflates slightly on its highest point (the tip of the bread so slightly collapses in that "region".

You should try to make the bread in good conditions. If that's not possible, maybe make a smaller loaf of bread. Good luck!

Being a baker and having a breadmaker at home (that rarely gets used) try putting a bit more dry gluten into the mix.

A tip for a lighter loaf - mix the dough for another 3 or 4 mins.. the more mixing it has (up to a certain point) the better gluten development you get, in turn that means you dont get the top sunk down...

Different brands do different things. Check in the recipe/instructions booklet that came with your machine. They almost always have a trouble shooting section. If you don't have a booklet, try to find the company on line. Good luck!

It may be over rising.
