I have a Golden Retriever who is about 2 1/2 yrs old. Lately i noticed his nose is turning pink when it used to be all black. Why is this? It's still cool and wet and he doesn't act like there is anything wrong. Anyone ever delt with this before?

This sounds like what is called a "snow nose" (hypopigmentation). This is often a result of a decrease in the amount of sunlight that occurs in the winter. Come spring/summer, it'll probably darken up, but not as dark as it was before. And it may happen again next winter.

My JRT mix's nose did the same thing. My vet said nothing was wrong. As long as the nose is still cool and moist. You may want to check with your vet just ot be safe though.

I don't know why this happens, but apparently it's fairly common. Someone else told me that in the show world it's considered a breed flaw. Hope you're not planning on showing....

that is somewhat regularly occurring. A canines's nostril receives darker the more effective solar warmth that is uncovered to. My German Shepherd's nostril receives very pink in the course of the iciness and that is jet black in the course of the summer season. akin to our pores and skin receives darker interior the summer season and then we lose that tan interior the iciness (till we bypass tanning for sure!) No concerns!

This happened to one of my dogs. I took him to the Vet and after doing a biopsy we found out he had Lupus! I didn't know until then that dogs can get lupus. Anyway, it was a mild case, and I managed it with the Vet's guidance and Vitamin E. The other alternative was Prednisone, which we fortunately, didn't have to do.

What kind of bowl do you feed and give water? If it's plastic try stainless steel or the other way around. I can't remember which one is the culprit, just try changing the bowl

Only thing I can think of is that he scratched it- usually the skin heals back pink instead of black.
