I'm looking into buying a new digital camera and need some opinions. I don't want to spend more than 400. I will mostly be using the camera for taking pictures of bands on stage so i need a camera that would be good with that. Anyone have any suggestions?

You probably want a camera that has good ISO levels and can go up to at least 800 without being unuseable. Id say go with the Canon S series about 350 I believe or go with the Canon A640 or A630, they take really nice low light pictures. Remember the pictures arent going to come out if their is no light.

If you can come up with a bit more, you could get a Nikon D40 SLR for $559 or a D50 for $599, both with the kit lens, which isn't a bad lens. Either would be much better in low light than a digicam. Of the two, I would try for the D50, a much more versatile camera that will grow with you.

If that is not an option, I would suggest checking out a Fuji F30, a pretty good low light digicam, or the Canon 640.

well... even i do that but in india. $400 is too much for a consumer digital camera. youll get a very good deal for about 100 to 150 usd on ebay.com. trust me, i have bought a no. of good items on ebay and quite satissfied. better go for sony because it has a great flash system and iso levels are good too providing resolution. atleast havea look at ebay.com.
