I sometimes get into weird conversations completely different from what they are trying to sell.

I have! It's a sure fire way to get rid of them! They actually hang up on YOU! It is so much fun.

No, I usually tell them to hang on for a few minutes. I'll then go back a few hours later to see if they're still there. If they are, I'll tell them that I'm not interested and hang up. If they did hang up, I file a report with the FCC, as it's illegal for a telemarketer to hang up first as it is considered harrassment.
If a telemarketer calls my house looking for a family member, I usually get all gloomy and tell them that he/she was killed in a horrible, gruesome accident just the day before. It leaves them speechless.

Oh yeah, I tell them about Acts 2:38- Ac 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For some reason they don't stay long. I guess they are like most people and just hate God, just because.

One time I asked a telemarketer if she knew Jesus. As she stumbled over her words, I said, "lets talk so I can tell you all about Jesus, and the forgiveness of sin".
She decided she didn't want to sell me something, after all.
