I dont get this quote,
"One way to open your eyes is to ask yourself,
'What if I had never seen this before?
What if I knew I would never see it again?'"

If you knew you hadn't seen something before or that you would never see it again, you'd be more interested in it and would probably study it and study it to find out what it is, how it works, everything about it. It's telling you to appreciate things more for what they're worth.

Opening your eyes is not necessarily seeing things. Like hearing is not necessarily listening. So, to be truly interested in something is to involve oneself. To interject something objective that will make your subjective mind more involved even if you're simply seeing things is putting yourself in scenario that makes you think twice about what you see.

There are 2 scenarios: what if you're looking at is noble, never been seen by the naked eye before? and what if I blink my eyes that thing I'm looking at right now will disapper into thin air. So, you'll try to remember all the information as much as you can and you begin to appreciate that something more than you do in other instances.

This is similar to the saying: " It is only when you loose something that you recognize its value." so realize how important a thing is while it is still with you.
