I have two older children and I don't remember either of them doing this. Is this normal? It's getting frustrating. Does it mean anything?

It's a developmental thing. Children like to see that clothes can be put on, and they can take them off. Again, and again, and again! It's also a way for them to assert control and freedom (literally), as they discover they are capable of taking off their clothes and don't need mommy or daddy to do it for them.
Be prepared for post-bath naked runs! :)

Thats a good question! (smile) No need to ponder so profoundly upon the matter, not yet at least. We must ask ourselves, what is normal for a child in training?
Keep in mind, not every child is the same, just because the others did not respond in the same manner as the previous children. A little more patience will need to be applied through the process. I know of a child that actually got up off the pot and ran away scared one she defecated in the pot for the first time.
It was like she was terrified once she discovered the waste was in the pot. I have three words for advice, patience, patience, and patience. Just patiently get the child to settle down as much as possible but try not to make a big deal of it. Children will read your body language so it is important to remain calm and be patient.
Just keep trying different ways to get the child in the habbit of not running around naked. Of course, the child has no knowledge of its nakedness, so with that understanding, patiently teach the child to not run around naked or remove clothes. Again, patience can not be over stressed. I would not panic and complain to your pediatrician about it just yet. (smile) All the best, things will get better. -- Pall Stanley

Oh yes!! It means FREE AT LAST!! It's totally normal. it's a new feeling to them and they are celebrating! It might be frustrating now, but it won't last. Try giving a prize or something when he doesn't do the running around. It's called "training' for a reason!

PERFECTLY normal. Are the other two girls? Both of my boys did this, and my mom says that I did it too. I always thought it was hilarious when mine did it. The younger one would take off his clothes, but the empty clothes basket on his head, and run around the house running into walls and everything else butt naked.

ROFL Oh yes, SO yes!
I have a 6-year-old and a 4-year-old. Both girls. And they both did this on a regular basis.
In fact, the 4-year-old often still does simply because she has a hard time getting redressed and thinks it's funny to make me chase her and redress her. She runs around screaming at the top of her lungs "Catch the nekkid baby!" and giggling.
So no, your child is not abnormal, just having fun streaking at the only age he can truly get away with it. Just catch him, dress him and tell him he needs to be modest. He'll eventually grow out of it.

That is how I taught my son to potty train *blush*. It was in the middle of summer, he kept on peeing in his undies and didn't like wearing pull-ups!
Now my daughter on the other hand, still strips down to the bare bottom when she goes potty (she is now potty trained) and I have the HARDEST time keeping her clothes on. But yes, it is completely normal...and frustrating :)

There is always that one toddler who loves the freedom of running around naked. Clothes are so restricting. Cute. I'm remembering my younger daughter doing that. The little poopy.

my son is seven and still has to take off all his clothes to go #2. Don't tell anyone, he'd kill me! but when he was a toddler he loved runnng around naked all the time. As soon as i'd put a shirt on im, he'd rip it off. We'd probably all love the freedom of nudity if it were socially acceptable and weather allowed.

Absolutely. I have known SEVERAL kids (unrelated to each other) who felt it necessary to get completely naked before using the potty. Don't worry, it's definitely normal, not to mention that kids just like to be naked, better than they like wearing clothes. It's just a kid thing. It will pass.

It means your child likes his clothes off. It is perfectly normal.......A lot easier to be naked than have to deal with clothes when going to the bathroom. Never met a kid who didn't like being nude.
