This question applies to any religion.

I believe in a God of sorts, and even spell the word with a capital G to respect people that love Dog backwards! Does it still mean that I am doomed to hell because I don't believe in the story of Jesus? and the other religious equivalent of said son of God?
Seriously... I am not taking the mick!

And why do extremely religious people in the
Western world call God, Dog backwards? It's very odd when you think of what they call the opposite of God = Evil ???? God is Dog backwards and Evil is Live !!!

Freaky!

Christians, and them alone, believe in jesus, and also believe you have to believe in him. if you don't, you're not a christian, but that shouldn't bother you in the least, because you're not a christian.

Does that make sense? Good.

Edit: So far we had two replies that amount to be torture threats; what a delightful religion christianity is!

Please, please, check out "The God Delusion". You may find out you don't need any religion after all. Email me if you like.

Many religions refer to Jesus but only Christianity thinks he is God in human flesh. The rest just refer to him as a prophet, or a nice man, and isn't worshipped.
As for being doomed to hell, if Christianity is true (and I believe it is) Everyone has done wrong things in their life. People who commit crimes deserve punishment. Some people deserve more punishment than others. And Hell is the place we go to get that punishment. As a good God he does not want to see us in Hell, but as a just God he can't let sin go unpunished.
He came up with a solution his son voleenteered to give us a great gift. He took our punishment for us. So we need not experience the wrath of an angry judge. But there is a hitch we have to accept the gift. And to take that gift we have to believe in the one who gave us the gift. If we refuse to take the gift we have to expericence the punishment ourselves.
Many people believe they have lived a good life and the good will outwieght the bad. But would a judge listen to you if you said but Judge I have never been caught speeding before, so can't you overlook this one time? The judge would make you pay the fine anyway, because that is what a good judge does.

I could be wrong we all have to do the research ourselves.
If you want to reject Jesus the diety just about any other relgion but Christianity will do.

But please don't pick your religion out of a hat do the research to find what faith is true.

God is a father figure, a creator. Jesus is the messiah in Christian tradition, and a profet in Jewish and Muslim traditions. You don't have to beleive in Jesus being anything more that a story to beleive in a Creator. Budhist, Hindus, even Pagans beleive in an all emcompasing energy or figure responsible for all life- "God". You can't be a Christian with out following Jesus teachings, but you sure can beleive in God, or a god. In regards to your god=dog and evil=live, you do realize that only happens in the English language?....... it's just word play, pay no attention to it, or atleast not any more than you pay to the fact that "race car" is the same spelled forwads or backwards.

You can believe in God and yet not believe that Jesus was anything other than a person (a decent person who tried to get others to be more decent).

The world is full of people who believe as you do.

Nobody on Earth can tell anyone else whether or not they will get to heaven or hell or whether there is really anything after life on Earth. People who follow some religions would tell you otherwise.

The way I figure it, even if, by any chance, the thing about Jesus were true I find it hard to imagine Jesus wouldn't think that people who thought for themselves while on Earth were all that bad; and I can't help but believe Jesus would forgive humans for being their ignorant and mind-of-their-own selves.

I tend to think - if there is any judging that gets done - we will be judged on what we are and what we do more than what we believe. That, however, is just my own belief. It is up to every person to figure out what he or she believes for him/herself.

People get too carried away with That Book. God is everywhere. You don't need to read about Him when you can see him in the trees, the mountains, the stars. Your personal relationship with God is what's important, not what happened 2,000 years ago.

The relationship between Jesus and God has always seemed
rather cumbersome to me. God is God. Who needs to try to split
him up into little pieces and label each of the pieces? I love my wife, but I don't analyze that love and split it into 'morning love', 'platonic love', 'sex' and so on - it's all the same thing. In the same way, why split God into the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit? What's the point? If you find God in your heart, that's what is important.

Christianity believes that Jesus Christ is God Almighty in the flesh
This is very scriptural in both the Old Testament and in the New Testament. Those who simply believe in God are still trying to live under Gods Old Covenant with humanity. The scriptures tell us that God gives us a New Covenant, through His Son Jesus Christ. No more are we required to sacrifice animals or say repititious prayers or do the things under and of the Old Covenant. We are now saved by Grace and not by works.
Works are an important aspect of our walk with Christ Jesus.
They are a spiritual barometer, so to speak, of our obedience to Christ and His teachings. These works we now do are a manifestation of Gods Spirit in us. We do not boast of these works, rather we give all glory and praise to God Almighty for producing these works in us. Jesus' death and resurrection completely paid the price for our sins, past, present and future.
We need not do anything else but believe in Him and follow His teachings. Works are separate from salvation, Gods gift is a free gift to all who call on the name of His Son Christ Jesus.
The works we do to please God, apart from the Holy Spirit, are detestable to Him. They are like filthy rags. The works we do to please God by the leading of His Holy Spirit are pleasing to Him.
Isa. 7:14 explains who the Messiah will be. God foretold this to us so we would know for sure. He is the One who will save the world and it is Him you must put your faith and trust in.
The bible warns us that there is no other way to the Father, except through Jesus Christ.
This is the single most important decision every human being has to make. Sadly, the bible tells us that most will make the wrong decision.
I am sorry to say that this is not a multiple choice question, like some tests are.
There is one question. And one answer.
God Bless You....Peace.

okay first of all, it depends on what god you're believing in. If you actually, legitimately believe in God (yes, with the capital), it seems it would be quite pointless to believe in his existence, and yet choose to reject the most important teaching... and as far as the dooming to hell thing, if you don't really believe in God or Jesus, how do you believe in Heaven and Hell? As for myself, I believe in God and Jesus, and I believe that the only way to get to Heaven is to follow the teachings of the Bible.

I hope that's helpful... and if you have any questions, you could email me about it.

You sound like you are young person who is seeking to learn the truth. No one is "doomed to hell" until they leave this earth apart from saving faith in the sacrifice God made on our behalf by sending his son Jesus to die a substitutionary death on a cross to pay our sin debt for us. Just because you don't know what you believe now doesn't mean that you can't learn the truth and come to faith.

The story of Jesus and the truths found in the Bible are supported by tons of evidence. If you want to check out some of it look at the links on the Free Stuff page or start out by clicking on the Answers button @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/

You can be, you just aren't considered Christian. There's lots of religions that believe in one God but don't believe in the story of Jesus (like Islam, Judaism, etc.). There's no reason that you even have to belong to a religion. Just set your own beliefs, and if they're different than any religions, who cares? All that matters is what you believe. Just ignore when people say you're going to hell if you don't believe in Jesus. Don't worry, you're just going to their hell. If you don't believe in Jesus, there's nothing to worry about. Again, all that matters is what YOU believe in.

This is not a threat, but it is the truly dangerous condition of boastful people. You are free to choose not to believe in God, Who is too high beyong human knowledge, but you cannot blaspheme against the God worshipped by millions of people who are not all childish or ignorant.
Any ordinary man with some little education must know at least the principle of mutual love and respect to all human beings. Arrogance cannot exist without bad effect.

All I can say is mediatate on the matter and search your heart. Thats what I do. God is in our hearts. As a Christian I would like you to believe in Jesus but I would do more harm than good by preaching eternal damnation to you. Become more spiritual and search your heart for the answer and it will come.

I discovered God without God being taught to me. I searched through meditation and I discovered Jesus Christ. It's a personal matter.
