What is with men on the internet who want to meet women and expect a woman to go out with them right away? They use the excuse that they don't want to waste time on e-mailing. Shouldn't there be an expected "getting-to-know-you", at least by e-mail, before ever meeting in person?

because its easier to portray yourself in person. especially if the guy is sarcastic or uses a lot of looks to communicate (like me). its hard to read a person's tone of voice. and its hard for some people to write emails to people they don't really know. -OR- they are pervs and just want to get some.
my advice is go with your gut and meet someone if they seem like your type, just DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID like give them your home number or address. meet someplace public and get to know them before being alone or getting in a car with them.

Really. It is a waste to email back and forth for longer than a week or so. I can't tell if I would like a person until I meet them in person. A picture doesn't show enough about your mannerisms or what your voice sounds like. It doesn't tell me if you are fun to be with.
It is too easy to represent something that you are not on the internet. If I were to have a relationship with a woman, then there will be physical aspects to it. All I will get from the internet is the cerebral aspect. I don't want to waste time getting to know a woman that I don't want to see again after the first date.
And, the same should be true for women unless they just want to read email or chat. And, it doesn't take very long to get to know a person via email, at least enough to know if you want to meet them. We both have profiles. If we are talking, then you have some interest. Why not meet to get it out of the way?

Anyone who's in a big rush to meet someone face-to-face off the Internet is a fool. If anything it takes longer to really know someone met on the Internet than in person. It's easy to lie on the Internet. Even in this forum so many girls seem to be hiding behind a male avatar. It wouldn't surprise if some guys are hiding behind a female avatar.

from my experiences, most women i talk to on the internet think all the guys they chat with are total peverts just looking to get their jollies off. most of the time thats right, but im hardly looking for it. it probably has the same logic that guys arent too afraid to give their number out to any woman that gives them the time of day. id have to think the online guy is thinking youre giving him the time fo day to at least chat with, so they want to see how far they can go before they mess it up?

A lot of girls make it so hard for a guy to make the move since the girl isnt suppose to. guys try so hard but it leaves them with one option in some cases and thats internet dating because there isnt any pressure. I think its stupid enough to even do internet dating. Its all last resorts getting rejected so many times or the guy is just plain retarded and thinks he can get any girl that he wants.
