I had to suffer 2 1/2 years because of my braces. Finally they recently were removed. I received 6 x white stuff with a wire behind my lower teeth. The next time they will do the same with the upper teeth. The orthodontist told me that I will need this retainer forever because my teeth could become crooked again.

How should the teeth move by their selves?

Does anybody got crooked teeth without a retainer?

Is this really necessary?

What did your orthodontist told you?

Yes! Wear your retainer... you don't necessarily have to were it all the time but at least while you sleep would be a good idea. I currently have braces, my cousin had braces before me and she had them for about 3 years and didn't wear her retainer and now she has to get braces again because her teeth began to move and get crooked again. So wear your retainer while you sleep at least.

My son got his braces off about 1-1/2 years ago and was also told he needs to wear the retainers every night. Yes, teeth do move, even if you have your wisdom teeth pulled. I came from a large family where all of us had to have braces. My bottom teeth are a little crooked. My sister probably should have braces again because hers moved so much. Believe me, it's worth the trouble to wear the retainers. Eventually you will only have to wear them at night when no one will notice.
