Why do you want to shove a large tire on a un-modified vehicle?
Your first problem will be rubbing when turning, off roading, or any other situation where you will experience mild to wild wheel travel. If you off road it will cause more problems than solve.
Now by installing a larger tire you have just decreased your MPG, unless you plan on changing the the gears,but I doubt this is in your plans(just a guess).
Third you are going to notice the lose of HP, even with a 4.0. The only way to truly & correctly gain HP back is to change the gears.
Fourth and final it will looks lame! A huge tire in a small wheel well won't look right.
Sorry about the bluntness but everyone will tell you what will fit but know body seems to care if it will work right.

I had 265 R 15 on mine but they were a little big.They didnt rub or anything but I prefer 235 r 15.

If your 31's rub now, the swampers will also rub...they might be an inch narrower but they have a more aggressive sidewall

we fit 33s on our 97 grand Cherokee and it rubbed when hit bumps so we had to put in one or 2 inch spacers.. i would say you could get away with 31's

the biggest you can fit is a 30 inch tire any more and youll rub even then you might rub.

I fit a tractor tire on mine.......just strapped it to the roof and hauled it away.

Yes the 31X10.5R15 can fit, though you'll have a little rubbing.
