I am not sure that they do. I don't even know if I know the real me.

My Siblings definitely KNOW the REAL me .. and respect me for my choices in life, the way I made my own way, and the way now I am able to enjoy my life (and yes, I was a long-term single parent, finally now an empty-nesting single retiree .. and MY pension was EARNED through my HARD WORK ... along with my home and everything else I have in life ...)

My Adult children (young adults) are still in that hormonal-raging, selfish, me-first, nasty and don't care to respect the single parent that raised them stage still .. and never took the time while younger to realize why I did the things that I did (like my choice of careers -- and this includes the Military too (which I retired from also)). When they started hitting all the hormonal raging times .. they did make some poor choices too .. and never respected me enough during the teen years ... and yes, although they are living independently, they STILL do not know the "REAL" me ... but every time they "want" something -- their hands are out (and this Retiree's Pocketbook is DEFINITELY CLOSED!).

My family knows the real me and all the things the real me has been through.

My IN-LAWS however, do not. And with the way his family is, they never will!! They look down on me because I went to college instead of settling for a factory job like all of them, they would all die of "sheer embarassment" if they knew I have a child that I gave up for adoption before I met my husband. They are all hypocrites and its astounding to see this family looking down on everyone who is "less perfect".

Of course he knows all about it and is fine, so that's what really matters.

My parent don't know the real me. I just turned 13 and they don't get it that I'm a teenager now they think I'm still the little girl that used to play with dolls and everything else. They wont let the little girl go.

no one knows the REAL me, i do not allow people to see, if they see then they have an advantage over me and it could lead to me getting hurt

nope. My mom could really care less and my dad's never home. They know all the bad parts about me, but nothing about the good person who I really am.
