Does that mean older or current bluetooth chips will go even faster than the 2.0 version of 3mbps? What about future bluetooth chips? Will they be blue-wb chips that can accept pure bluetooth signals and UWB super fast signals? Where does the compatibility start and end?

Backward compatibility means that if you get a phone with the new version and you have old headphones with the old version. The old headphones will still work.

In other words, old bluetooth devices will still work with new chips.

This is similar to USB 2.0. USB 2.0 devices run faster, but old USB 1.0 1nd 1.1 devices still work.
