I usually play Titleist NXT or NXT Tour balls. I'm a 12 handicapper, generally break 85, and can somewhat control draws and fades with some consistancy. But I can rarely (if ever) get a ball to back-up on the green.

So, last time out, a friend gives me a sleeve of Titleist Pro V1's. One the last four holes, I used one of them.

On all four holes, the ball backed up when it hit the green. I swear, I did nothing different with my swing.

Was it the ball that caused this? Are they that much softer? Does this really make a difference?

I guess I should know the answer, as I've been playing for 35 years.

Thanks.

Its defintetly the ball . Pro V's are softer and create more spin. I had to switch to the NXT because of too much spin.Hit em straight!!

I have been playing golf for 30 years and I hope to play at least another 30. The ball definitely has something to do with it. A bolata ball is much softer and so when the club makes contact with the golf ball it is pinched quite a bit more, producing more back spin and thus a roll back once it hits the green.

I am a 10 handicap myself and I usually play with Pinnacles. Pinnacles are a harder ball and they go further but no spin. I mean I can't get them to spin. 8~) It takes a strong downward stroke at contact which produces a large divot and the pinch on the ball creates spin. I usually have a clean sweep and produce no divots.

If you want spin on a par three, always tee up your ball. Not much, just enough to get your club completely under the ball. The contact will produce more spin.

4 sure the Pro-V had something to do with it. You are talking about the top rated ball for some time now.

It's the ball, but not because it is software, rather the cover and mantel composition. They allow the wedge to "pinch" better, promoting improved backspin.

Most likely it was Pro V1's are soft so they spin more.
