Yes he did knock down Muhammad Ali in the 4th round with a left hook which seems to be Ali's weakness( remember his 3 fights with Frazier)

Cooper knocked Ali down with a left hook late in the 4th round, fortunatley for Ali he was saved by the bell. Cooper cut very badly around the eyes and therefore lost this fight on cuts a cuts stoppage.

It is all speculation. I saw the fight and Ali was hit and went down. On the way back to the corner he was wobbling. The punch came at the end of the round so Cooper could not follow up. Dundee pulled on a cut in the glove of Ali and then needed time to get new gloves. Ali had a minute to recover and Dundee gave him more time. To answer your question Ali would have been able to continue. He had a minute to rest and was fine the rest of the fight.

I read once that Ali heard someone in the (London) crowd screaming and looked up to his surprise to see Liz Taylor was the loud fan. She was there with her husband, Richard Burton. Ali looked a bit too long and Cooper caught him with the big hook. The left hook was Ali's weakness. When his speed went he ate way too many of them.
