I would check with the vet before putting her on a diet. She is probably old enough to be put on cat food instead of kitten food but as always, check with your vet first.

You said that she is no longer on kitten food. Possibly she is eating because she is not getting the nutrition she needs from the cat food? I am really not sure so still, I would call a vet.

At 7 months 7 lbs would be the average weight so she may be on the way to getting overweight

Read the label on the bag of food you are feeding her. If two of the first three ingredients are corn products find another food right now! Corn is used to fatten slaughter animals and is not appropriate food for a cat whose diet should be 60% quality meat protein.

Eagle Pack, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Felidae and Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers' Soul meet those criteria.

That's within a normal weight for a female cat. My female is 10 years old and has remained 9 lbs. for the last 5 years (when I got her). Male cats generally weight a bit more.

I'm not to sure but Ithink she's a tiny bit overweight. Ask a vet if you should take her on a diet.
