Here in America lever actions, especially in .30-.30 and .44 magnum are popular for deer hunting. Are they used elsewhere or are lever action rifles an American thing?

In most of Eurpoe gun control laws don't allow people to have a choice of what kind of rifle to have. They are all banned, and we here in America should be vigilant or else our government might do to us what the Eurpoeans did to their people. The difference between a free man and a slave is the free man is allowed to defend himself.
I have killed 11 deer with my Marlin .30-30, but prefer my bolt action Rugers for hunting.

i'm not completely sure, but it seems like they evolved in america, especially around the westward expansion. my guess is they were created for police, or sherifs out west who needed a faster rifle. from the documentarys i've saw about the old west, having a quick gun was very important to them.

i cannot recall ever seeing a european gun that was lever action, but then again, it seems like euopean guns are fairly rare unless its a surplus gun. alot of countrys over there greatly restrict gun ownership, or do not allow it.
