Ever since I have first felt sick this past week (very swollen tonsils), I have had this dull ache/pain in the lower right side of my pelvis, underneath my stomach. Its not too bothersome, and not a sharp pain, but it comes and goes and I can't figure out what it could be. I have been drinking plenty of water and the occasional glass of juice, so I don't think it has anything to do with my kidneys? Any ideas?

My mistake, I got it wrong, I have all the classic symptoms of strep throat.

Right abdominal pain in a young lady can have several causes, but your kidneys would not be one of them. Kidney pain is usually felt in the mid-back just under the bottom rib and the flank(side). Pain or discomfort around the belly button is the small intestine, from gas or irritation. Pain on the upper right can be from the gall bladder or the transverse large colon, pain in the lower right can be from large colon, ovary, uterus, or appendix. Without a physical examination it would be very difficult to say exactly what is causing your discomfort. If you are mid-cycle, you could be feeling ovulation related pain. If you haven't been eating well, since you have been sick, it could simply be the gassy irritation of a semi-empty system. I assume with the extremely sore throat you are eating very soft foods and liquids, primarily, and the system is just getting empty. There is more room for the gas, and not enough contents to move things down the line faster. Being semi-empty would make it easier to notice all the gas and irritation. Since you are not describing a sharp pain, or a constant ache, I don't think it's your appendix- though of course if you have one it is still possible it is complaining. If the problem continues, it would certainly be worth it to have the doctor check things out, just to set your mind at ease or ward off other troubles.
