We need a passport if we're traveling outside the US, just like americans do. To go to the United States, we don't need a passport.

In theory, no, because the new rule requiring passports is supposed to cover travel to Canada, Mexico and countries outside the U.S. Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth of the United States. But, since passports are required of those Americans visiting the Caribbean, it might be wise for a Puerto Rican to have a passport to prove he/she isn't from Cuba or the Dominican Republic. Many Cubans and Dominicans find their way to the United States through Puerto Rico.

Puerto Ricans do not need a passport unless they fly to a foreign country. However since Puerto Rico is a U.S. Territory, Puerto Ricans can fly to the U.S. and back without one. Hope this helps.

Noboby in the world needs a passport, unless they choose to leave their native country for whatever purpose (like a vacation, to study, to work, etc.). You only need a passport to leave, and more importantly, re-enter, the country.

Puerto Ricans have a special status. They are called "U.S. nationals", so they are entitled to a U.S. passport.
U.S. nationals (that includes U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals, like Puerto Ricans) can travel directly between the mainland U.S. and Puerto Rico WITHOUT a passport.

No, since the U.S. controls the island's immigration and customs, U.S. citizens do not need a passport. The same applies to the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Baker Island, Howland Island, Jarvis Island
, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, Midway Islands (administered as the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge), Navassa Island Wake Island. For some islands such as Navassa Island, U.S. citizens will need a permit from the U.S. Department of the Interior to enter this territory since this territory (and some others) are closed to public for ecological reasons (they are nature reserves).
