I am annoyed by people who try so hard to be tidy that they get upset if something is slightly messy. Geez people, there are more important things in life to worry about.

Probably not. Silly thoughts are prevalent amongst people. If you want advice quit getting worked up about it. You even said yourself - there are more important things in life to worry about.

No, it's pretty well documented that people who freak out over messes and have to have everything just so are control freaks. It's a major symptom of OCD, a very serious disorder.
I've known several people like that in my life, and while I like neatness and order, I like my people and pets a lot more.
There are more important things to worry about.
I break it down to STUFF VS Relationships.
And frankly, relationships are a lot more important to me.

They are called perfectionist. I agree with you...I had a boyfriend who cleaned up every second of the day. If I put my drink down on the table, he would jump up and run to the kitchen and take a paper towel and wipe the table and then put the drink on the paper towel. Once I was done, he won't just let it go, he would jump up immediately, take the glass in the kitchen and paper towel, wash that glass and put it away. He did this all the time. It drove me nuts. He was a perfectionist. It's the was these type of people function. Personally, I couldn't do it.

My hubby is a neat freak, and I am sure I drive him crazy....but I choose to live in a home that is lived in, not a museum...don't get me wrong, it is clean, and sanitary, but I refuse to follow everyone around all day picking up after them...I pick up the house once a day.....that's it....and I really don't care if a pair of socks are on the floor all day until I get to them....I have much better things to do!

It's probably a touch of OCD, something beyond their control. They must be neat to have order in their heads. Remember, it's their life not yours.

They probably have nothing better to do, or worse yet, they have a mental problem like OCD. Don't worry about them. They're doing enough worrying for the both of you. ;)
