I stopped believeing in God. I do good deeds, avoid doing bad deeds & treat others well. That's all that matters. If God exists, then how come I've been living much more happily since I 'deserted Him'???

All you deserted was the idea of God you had been given as a child.

This often has little or nothing to do with God at all.

Love and blessings Don

You have taken responsibility for your own life. That is a joyous and positive thing, and it is what gives meaning and fulfillment to life. It's why atheists, on the whole, are happier than believers.

I understand. It is because doctrine can be crippling and blinding. Being a good person means just that......being a good person. And when you don't have the pressure of hell, or judgments to contend with, it makes being happy such a simple and fulfilling thing.

You just removed the pressure of having to do things to please someone.

When a true believer in God, does it because it benefits himself, not God.

So youre probably on your way to find God.

Congratulations.

That's exactly how I feel. It's because we aren't focusing on an afterlife and we are living for the life we have now.

My guess is, you never really knew Him in the first place.
There are quite a few "Christians", I think, who don't.....

the devil has got to you chld oooga booga booga... his majic spells got to you. oh no!! God has lost another soldier. noooO!!!!

Umm maybe cuz now you spend your life being happy and yourself rather than trying to please the church and find god by what your told rather than what you learn for yourself through life.

If god is life, shouldnt we live life and find him there, not be told what to believe and how and who god is and what he wants?
