I feel that god is nothing more than a creation of man, so I am wondering if the population as a whole all collectively stopped believing in a god(s) existence would he be truly gone? (I am asking this to everyone whether you believe in a god or not, doing some research for a metaphysics paper) So once more whether you believe in a god or not is it possible to exstiguish his existence by complete denial by every living thing on this earth?

Well due to the stupidty of some people who have responded to my question I will state again, THIS IS FOR A METAPHYSICS PAPER this is all ideas and philosophy I am only asking that if he doesnt exist in a persons mind then can he exist? And to the idiot who posted that god is going to kill me and that im not deserving of life, let me tell you this, if he did exist then he would have struck me down long ago.

And in case anyone does not know what metaphysics is, its a branch of philosophy that deals with the ideas of reality and the concepts that people as a group can form or control, despite me being an athiest please ignore the fact and stop sending me punishment or death threats, because just as I can't change your opinion, you can't change mine, please answer intelligently as I will be using this to answer this question given to me by my professor for a research paper, not to listen to people who are so ignorant and brainwashed that they cannot even try to answer the question asked.

Are you for real? Isn't atheism SUPPOSED to be *cough* all about intelligent reasoning? This is one of the most ridiculous questions I've ever seen!

There is only one way that the whole world will go away from the idea of God the Almighty but then they may find there own tiny winy gods anyway; and that is when the human start getting born without a brain. If the whole world is full of non-believer it does not mean that here is no one pondering about the universe, it vastness and about its creation and the Creator. It happened before. As the Quran says about Abraham that he did not have any mentor for his spiritual thinking. His family, clan and the kings and all were involved in idol worshiping, agnosticism and paganism. Nothing seem right to his thinking. He did try to search for the truth and thought that inherently there has to be a creator for all this. he wonder who or what could it be. He tried to find Him in his surroundings. He saw bright stars, moon and a big shining sun and thought if they could be God but rationalized to himself that none of these can be God and finally declared that all these things are creation and the creation of one Almighty God, Creator, Sustainer, overpowering and Almighty. And that faith spread.
So if this light goes off when people are born with no brain then probably there will be no such discussion either until human start having brain again and then another Abraham is born to reason for the existence`of God. So it not not possible to kill the idea of God.

Whoa whoa whoa. Hold on chief. God either exists or not in reality. If no one believes in God, God would still exist. However, if God does not exist, the idea of God would still obviously exist. If the whole population stopped believing in God for so long that the idea of God was lost to history, then even the idea would cease to exist. But for that to happen, no one could ever think of the idea of God, which is very unlikely.

Not everyone agrees with your definition of God (whatever that is), so the question is essentially meaningless.

Some people think God is the universe, the laws of the universe, something outside the universe, something within everything in the universe...none of those things can be negated through denial.

If you're talking about the anthropomorphic God of mainstream Christianity and Judaism, I guess we could at least put him out of business? But again, only a certain amount of people think of that when they use the word "God".

You cannot 'kill' something that is not living. You can, however, stop something from existing. Althought God doesn't exist, the belief in Him does. SO if everyone were to truly stop believing, then he would cease to 'exist' in every way. I really hope that day comes soon...

Nothing can destroy or kill God, God is the most powerful thing in this whole world.
Hell became Hell because one of God's favorite angels wanted to overpower Him, so God cast him out, the angel's name was Lucifer, what we call the Devil.
Lucifer to this day tries to overpower God and to take as many people to hell as he can, that is why it is so hard for many of us to believe that God really exist because Lucifer is always playing mind games to trick us and make us doubt.

Are you serious? Like Tinkerbell?
If people stop believing in Alpha Centauri, will it disappear?
Did Zeus cease to exist because people stopped believing in him?
Whatever anybody believes, ipso facto, exists? Or is it what the majority believes?
Do you exist if I've never heard of you? If I forget that you exist, will you stop existing?

Sorry but, no. It makes no difference if you belive in God or not, He still exists. It's the same as you say George Bush doesn't exist becasue I believe he doesn't. It won't make any difference, becasue he exists. Same with God.

Not directly killed, I think it's possible that God can die. Nothing lasts forever. That is one of the number one rules in this universe, running right behind the rule of "everything depends upon everything else".

No, but God can allow you to die any second. Take advantage of the time you have here on earth for your own good. It'll be too late soon...

God bless
